Company Info
René Geneva Design llc is a company that cares. A little cliche, we know ~ but our goal is to provide fashion-forward, organic women's clothing that is chic, sustainable, and helps to take care of people and planet. We ensure fair wages are paid to those who were involved.
No matter what the price is, there is no such thing as the $10 T-shirt.
When you think about what goes into a garment, there is quite the process that happens usually in a different location: agriculture (labor), spinning the fiber (labor), weaving the textile (labor), dying the fabric, designing the garment, making the pattern, making the sale, cutting & sewing, detailing (such as snaps and zippers), and finally the pack and ship. Add to that any organic and/or fair trade certifications and you've bumped the amount of hands in your shirt even more. That was exhausting to write ~ much less wear!
Each garment is made from sustainable or organic fabrics and Ms Geneva is passionate about ensuring fair wages and training workers with artisan skills that can demand them. Most of our green designs are made in the USA. RGD has also created several little socially responsible programs over the years that make a big difference. They are Scraps for Schools™, the Sun Power Project™, and Fashionably Carbon Neutral™.
Rene Geneva was honored to be invited to Guatemala and travel
with Philip Sansone of the Whole Planet Foundation to meet the
movers and shakers of Panajachel's Grameen Bank and the women
of several indigenous tribes that surround Lake Atitlan. The woman
you see here lives in San Jose, Guatemala and is spinning cotton
that is grown on their property which is then dyed with plants and
woven into textiles and accessories. These women rely on
businesses purchasing their products and paying a fair wage for
their livings. If you are interested in more information on how you
can work with these women, please send us an email.
